On Monday May 29 intobeing - an exhibition of recent works by 15 COFA Masters of Art students opens at the COFA EPS space (E Block). The exhibition will present photographs, video art and sculptural objects fusing conceits of individuality, interconnection, displacement and display.

Many of the COFA students works reveal a disparity between (re)presentation of Australian life and the experience as lived by individuals or a tensile split of the surface from its core. Works on display in intobeing also explore the relationship of the image (from one still moment?) and/or object to meaning, history, memory and time. These ideas have been evoked in a number of ways, including the use of multiple ‘old’ photographs and combinations of pictures and written text used by the featured artists.

Artists featured in intobeing: Andrew Tenison, Caterina Pacialeo, Clara Hyun-Young Lee, Craig Bender, Geraldine Mills, Gonzalo Echeverria, Harriet McKern, Jess Lucas, Jessica Benten, Laura Chujman, Lisa Giles, Renee Sibraa, Ruth Braunstein, Tania Browitt, Vera Hong, Yan Tung.
