The 2005 'Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Society Scholarship Prize' has been won by Paul Williams a BFA student at the College of Fine Arts for his charcoal and pastel drawing series: Land Marks 1- 6 .
The COFA A.D.F.A.S Scholarship Prize now in its 6th year was established to foster interest and excellence in the decorative and fine arts and to cultivate an appreciation of practice.

A.D.F.A.S provides for its members a yearly program of illustrated lectures given by international and Australian presenters.

This year’s judging panel was comprised of:
Professor Ian Howard, the Dean of COFA
Stella Downer, ADFAS chairperson
Annie Baring, ADFAS representative and
Judith O'Callaghan, Head of Interior Architecture at UNSW's Faculty of the Built Environment

Williams receives a $3,000 prize that he has said will go towards the purchase of a wide angle lens for his camera and will fund his next trip to Fowlers Gap - a teaching and Research Facility of UNSW.

To celebrate and remember a life:
The Lucy Aspinall Scholarship for female Photographers fund launch
20 September 2005

With the intention to honour a life and celebrate female creativity Marcus McRitchie, partner of the late Lucy Aspinal, came up with the idea of using a photographic exhibition to launch an important new COFA scholarship.

The Photographic Retrospective, which was held in the Exhibition and Performing Arts Space (EPS) at the College of Fine Arts, presented photographic works by the late Aspinall. All works sold created the initial sum that will become the 'Lucy Aspinall Scholarship Fund'. McRitchie will dedicate the funds to recognise and nurture female photographers for years to come.
'The scholarship will be awarded to a female photographer who works with ideas of self expression- something Lucy was passionate about'.

McRitchie's vision is to create a legacy that will honor Lucy, a photographer, free sprit and creative force.

The COFA Spring Fair Photo Portrait prizewinner announced

Jane O’Sullivan from Bondi has won the portrait sitting with photographer Hamish Ta-mé.
The portrait will be in the style of Ta-mé’s portrait of Aria award winning bassist Lloyd Swanton that was selected for exhibition in the Olive Cotton portrait award.
