We offer students a global-minded education with opportunities to broaden their horizons through study at international universities, work experience and internships overseas. We have more than 200 partner universities in over 38 countries across the world and links to international NGOs and organisations. Students can pursue specialised learning in an international context by studying overseas at a partner university, in some cases receiving credits towards their degree.

You have the chance to take part in international Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities which ensure our graduates are global-minded and career-ready. Our previous global internship opportunities have included working with ChildFund in Cambodia, Vietnam, Timor-Leste and Laos. Students have also participated in the Paris Peace Forum and worked with the Citizens Constitutional Forum, an NGO working in community education and advocacy in Fiji.

Just go for it, it was such an eye-opening experience. It’s unique and I learned a lot about myself and how other people view the world. It’s worth giving it a go – it was a great experience.

    International industry experience

Many UNSW School of Art & Design programs feature industry placements which can be taken internationally or within Australia.

    For example:

    • Bachelor of Design students have worked in Hong Kong and the Netherlands as part of their degrees.

    Porosity Studio

In this cross-disciplinary initiative students travel to cities all over the world. They explore different urban centres and collaborate with other Fine Arts, Design, and Digital Media students. UNSW School of Art & Design students are invited to apply for the Porosity Studio. In the Porosity Studio program, students form a think tank to investigate public spaces alongside professional practitioners.

Porosity Studio students have visited international cities such as:

    • Beijing, China
    • Milan, Italy
    • Edinburgh, Scotland
    • Rotterdam, Holland
    • Cardiff, Wales

  • International courses offer UNSW School of Built Environment students the exciting opportunity to explore historical and contemporary urban/infrastructure projects, advanced industrial design and manufacturing, and tackle real-world social challenges with innovative design solutions.

You'll learn how to analyse, document and interpret the local urban condition and design novel responses to address social, cultural and environmental aspects. Site visits allow you to observe first-hand production technologies, culture, methods/techniques and practices within a local context.
