Join us for drinks and a conversation with Gerwyn Davies in conjunction with the exhibition Plush.
Gerwyn Davies’s photographs explore the expression of camp as an aesthetic strategy in photographic self-representation. Hear from the artist in conversation with curator and writer Hamish Sawyer as they discuss camp as a performative and aesthetic intensification applied to images and the image-making process itself.
Hamish Sawyer is a Brisbane-based independent curator and writer. In 2020 he curated ‘Marian Tubbs: we need privacy guys here too' at the University of Sunshine Coast Art Gallery. Sawyer has held positions at Caloundra Regional Gallery, Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Institute of Modern Art and Milani Gallery. He is a regular contributor to publications including ‘Art Monthly Australasia’ and ‘VAULT’.
