Printmaking
Join master printmaker and renowned Australian artist, Michael Kempson to discover the allure of printmaking.
Explore a range of printmaking processes and create an artwork using the technique of etching. You will cut marks on a metal plate, expose the lines with an etchant and print your work putting the plate and paper through a high-pressure printing press to create a take-home artwork.

Build the Best Possible Portfolio
Join a free portfolio entry workshop to learn about how to prepare and develop your portfolio for entry to UNSW Art & Design.
The compilation of an art or design Portfolio requires careful consideration. This workshop will provide insight into building a portfolio that puts you and your work in the best light.
Dr Tim Gregory, theorist, artist, lecturer and portfolio assessor will offer step-by-step advice and guidance about our Portfolio Entry submission process.
Note that this workshop is intended specifically for those seeking to boost their chances of gaining entry to UNSW Art & Design through our portfolio entry

Visual Communication
Join Carly Vickers, designer and lecturer at UNSW Art & Design for a hands-on workshop introducing the world of visual communication. The workshop will guide you through the design process, from sketching an idea to digitally producing a simple typeface. Using Adobe Illustrator you will experience the essentials of the design process – including how to create a file, draw shapes using the vector tool, and how to use objects and images as inspiration for type design.

Creative Coding for Artists
Join Dr Ollie Bown as he introduces the powerful creative coding environment Processing.
Processing is software that brings the power of code to artists and designers, enabling them to quickly and easily generate patterns, create animations and simple simulations, and design interactive experiences using cameras, microphones or sensors that detect movements and forces. See how easy it is to build an app, add your creative flair, and conceptualise new interactive artworks.

Transformation: seconds, minutes, hours
This hands on workshop, led by Izabela Pluta, will utilise the darkroom through a set of experiments that explore the material and alchemical characteristics of photography. By using light and contact printing as a way of creating images, students will discover the different ways that spatial, optical, and temporal relations can operate through a series of photographic artworks. The workshop will investigate paper negatives, solarisation and photograms. Prior darkroom experience is not necessary.
