What Comes Next? Developing Creative Careers
- When 24 Aug - 24 Aug 2017
Corner Oxford Street & Greens Road
Every emerging creative practitioner needs support, advice and guidance to access the range of possible opportunities to help build their professional careers.
These opportunities might take the form of support for travel, presenting exhibitions and projects, residencies, professional development, undertaking some major research, and other career enhancing opportunities that are on offer throughout Australia and around the world. The question is how to locate and identify these opportunities and who is best placed to provide some sound and meaningful advice in the process?
This special panel session – What Comes Next? – at UNSW Galleries is directed at emerging practitioners who would like to understand how to build a successful career and how to access avenues of financial, educational, and in-kind support nationally and internationally.
Join early career artist and current UNSW PhD candidate, Monika Behrens; artist and curator of the 2017 John Fries Award and Freedman Foundation Travelling Scholarship for Emerging Artists, Consuelo Cavaniglia; and UNSW Art & Design graduate and Acting Co-Executive Director of the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA), Penelope Benton as they examine these issues and offer industry insights to the world of professional contemporary art and creative practice.
